The Brea Space Announces Production of The Space Between, a Documentary-Musical Film Exploring the Real Journey of Young Artists

The Brea Space, founded by creative directors Cory and Krista Miller, announces production of The Space Between, a feature-length dance film that blends intimate documentary storytelling with cinematic musical sequences to explore the evolving journey of today’s emerging artists.

Filmed over the course of a training season, The Space Between follows dancers from The Brea Space’s Launch Training Program as they navigate the transition between studio training and the realities of pursuing a professional career. The film captures authentic moments of mentorship, rehearsal, growth, and personal challenge, interwoven with stylized musical sequences that reflect the dancers’ inner experiences beyond the studio.

Rather than presenting dance solely as performance, the film examines the space artists inhabit between aspiration and profession — where discipline meets uncertainty, creativity meets responsibility, and identity is shaped through experience.

Each musical chapter unfolds as dancers step outside the studio and into the wider world, exploring themes such as auditions, side jobs, rejection, resilience, financial pressures, relationships, social media, injury, opportunity, and ultimately the return to community and purpose.

“We wanted to tell a more honest story about what it means to pursue artistry today,” says director Cory Miller. “The most important moments often happen away from the spotlight — in the work, the relationships, and the growth that shape who artists become. This film lives in that in-between space.”

Produced through The Space TV, the film reflects The Brea Space’s collaborative creative culture, highlighting not only dancers but also the choreographers, mentors, and industry professionals who contribute to the development of emerging talent.

Production will culminate in a red-carpet premiere event bringing together artists, families, collaborators, and members of the entertainment community. The project also includes partnerships with brands aligned with movement, wellness, and creative expression.

The Space Between is expected to be completed in 2026, with festival submissions and wider public release to follow.
