Welcome to
The Brea Space!

Morning coffee...

By Cory M. Miller •

When the studio is still quiet.

The light is dim and my plants are pumping oxygen.

The floor is empty and cold, but full of possibility of what the day will bring.

I’ve stood in this moment thousands of times as an athlete, behind a camera, as a father watching my kids step into their own paths, and now as a mentor watching young artists try to figure out who they are becoming.

And I’ve realized something over the years:

Most of life doesn’t happen in the big moments we celebrate!

It happens in the space between them.

Between training and opportunity.

Between confidence and doubt.

Between where you are and where you believe you’re meant to go.

We live in a world that loves outcomes. Performances. Wins. Announcements. The finished product. But the real work the part that shapes us is usually invisible.

It’s often times alone and early mornings when motivation hasn’t arrived yet.

It’s repetition when no one is watching.

It’s choosing discipline over comfort.

It’s learning how to keep going when progress feels slow.

At The Brea Space, I watch dancers and Athletes chase big dreams every day. From the outside, people see talent and performance. What they don’t always see is the internal journey the questions, the fear, the growth, the quiet breakthroughs that happen long before anyone applauds.

That unseen process isn’t unique to dancers and athletes.

It belongs to anyone trying to build something meaningful.

I didn’t arrive here through a straight path. My career has moved through different worlds professional athletics, filmmaking, entrepreneurship, marriage, raising a family, building a creative community. None of it followed a traditional blueprint. Most of it was learned by stepping into uncertainty and figuring things out along the way.

Looking back, the most important lessons didn’t come from success itself. They came from navigating transitions — the uncomfortable middle chapters where identity shifts and clarity hasn’t arrived yet.

That’s what this publication is about for me, sharing a story that might have value to the next generation.

Not perfection.

Not performance.

But growth.

Here, I’ll share reflections on creativity, mentorship, family, faith, and the realities of pursuing an artistic life — the parts we don’t always talk about publicly but that shape us the most.

If you’re an artist, a parent, a mentor, or simply someone trying to build a meaningful life, my hope is that these letters feel like conversations rather than answers.

Because most of us are still becoming.

And maybe the goal isn’t to rush past the in-between moments but to learn how to live inside them.

Welcome.

Cory
