Ten years ago, we got the keys to a single empty warehouse room at the end of a building.
No fancy cameras. No programs. No launchpad yet. Just an idea that training could feel different and we could create something New. That a dancer could become more than one thing. That versatility wasn’t a luxury it was survival.
We didn’t know it then, but we were building more than a studio. We were building an ecosystem, a place for young artists to discover what was next for them.
Harbor was in fourth grade. Krista was at a pool party when my call came through: “I got the keys. Come down.”
She laughed. “He doesn’t want to leave.”
But she came anyway. We stood in that little white room empty, hot, full of nothing but possibility and said, “Let’s start with summer intensives.”
Back then, there weren’t dozens of intensives to choose from. Competitions existed. Conventions existed. But a dedicated, intimate multi-day deep dive into Technique and real versatility? That was rare. We didn’t see it as a risk. We saw it as a need.
So we brought in specialists. Jazz funk. Hip hop. Ballroom. Contemporary. Technique. Not because it was trendy. Because Autumn our daughter, At 15, was already winning trophies, but she still lacked the versatility, experience, and real-world understanding needed to book the kinds of professional opportunities she dreamed about.
Ten years of intensives. Nine seasons of Launch. Hundreds of dancers. Thousands of hours inside this space.
Here’s what we’ve come to know:
Patience is a skill. Covid almost shut us down. Teachers book last-minute jobs. Flights get canceled. One year, a TSA meltdown kept fifteen dancers from even showing up. You learn to pivot. You learn that flexibility isn’t weakness it’s wisdom.
Trust your gut, not the noise. We now know which teachers unlock growth. Which genres build true versatility. When a groove class matters more than a technical breakdown. The algorithm feeds on controversy. We feed on honesty.
You already have more power than you think. You don’t need permission to become who you’re becoming. Trust your own process. Do the work. The rest follows.
We run two intensives each summer.
Project Launch (July 15–17) is a three-day simulation of our Launch program. Smaller group — 40 to 50 dancers. Journaling. Headshots. On Camera. Real building. Real conversation. A Variety of Classes and an opportunity to be in a concept dance video.
The Two-Day Intensive (July 27–28) The Original Summer Intensive at The Brea Space was built for dancers who want to be pushed creatively, physically, and mentally.
Two days. Top choreographers. High-level training. Multiple styles.
One unforgettable environment.
This isn’t about learning one combo and going home.
It’s about stepping into a concentrated experience designed to challenge versatility, artistry, performance quality, musicality, and adaptability at the highest level.
But here’s what separates us:
We see you before you dance.
Not your skill level. Not your Instagram following. You. Your name. Your story. The fact that you flew across the country to visit us and you’re scared and excited and maybe this is your first time in a room like this.
We don’t do hierarchy. We do community.
And yes you will dance hard. You will sweat. You will be humbled. But you will also be inspired.
Before summer intensives, something new arrives.
We’ve spent Season 9 of Launch filming a docu-series style project called The Space Between. Not a typical showcase. Not a recital. Seven short cinematic concept videos, threaded together with real, unscripted interviews from our dancers.
No manufactured drama. No reality-TV storylines. Just the truth:
We call it The Space Between because that’s where real growth happens. Between the dream and the doing. Between the training and the job. Between who you are and who you’re becoming.
We are not a competition studio. We are not a convention circuit. We are not a content factory chasing viral moments.
We are a commercial dance training ecosystem for artists who want to work in music videos, tours, television, film, and Broadway. For dancers who understand that the industry doesn’t care about your trophy count. It cares about your range, your mentality, your resilience, and your readiness.
Our Launch program (14–25) exist for one reason: to fill the gap between Dancer and professional. Not by handing out contracts. By handing out tools.
More of our dancers are signed and working than ever before. Not because we’re lucky. Because we’re intentional.
Season 10 is already in motion. Bigger. Bolder. Still with the same integrity.
If you’re ready to train differently not just to be seen, but to see yourself more clearly join us this summer.
